Zermatt

Scale, light, and a good sense of lingering under the Matterhorn.

Elopement Photography

Away from the village bustle and mountain stations, at odd hours – that’s where Zermatt gets back to itself. Especially off-season.

Whether you’re hiking to a mountain hut, diving into the Grünsee, or watching the light shift across the Matterhorn’s face – the pace belongs entirely to you.

Majestic snow-capped mountain peaks partially shrouded in clouds with a couple embracing on a grassy patch in the foreground. Inspirational scenery perfect for capturing elopements in breathtaking natural settings.

Years from now, a good photograph doesn’t just show you Zermatt. You can still feel whether it was warm or cold, hear what the day sounded like up there, sense what was in the air, and what it felt like to be there together.

My work is anchored in Patgific – a 300-year-old Romansh concept from Graubünden about slowing down enough to really enjoy what’s in front of you. Beyond Graubünden, I’ve lived in Valais, the canton Zermatt sits in – away from the village itself, but close enough to know the rhythm of the region beyond the hub.

Raised in a painter’s studio, I look for where the landscape builds its own architecture. Few peaks do this as literally as the Matterhorn but the real Zermatt, for me, is what happens around it: the light on the Mischabel wall in the late afternoon, an afternoon up in Findeln, the trails around Riffelberg once the last train’s gone down.

I take only a very small number of couples in Zermatt each year, so that every day gets the attention and the hand-edited care it asks for.

Most choose an overnight – a mountain hotel above the village, alpenglow on the Matterhorn in the evening, the dark, and then the trails to yourselves at first light while the day-trippers are still far below. Around nine hours of photography across it. €8000.

From time to time there’s room for a shorter day too – especially in the off-season, when the village breathes again, or at specific hotel premises where the arrangement carries its own privacy. From four hours, from €4000.

Coffee in the morning mist, the glow going long by evening, and being so present you forget to document it (luckily, I did).
